Mountain Biking in Atlas Mountain : Mountain biking in the High Atlas centres on the two trekking favourites of Toubkal and M’Goun. Toubkal’s main selling point is its’ proximity to Marrakech and while M’Goun is a little more difficult to get to, it can be combines with a spin around neighbouring Jebel Saghro. If you’re planning an Atlas traverse it’s not uncommon for riders to hire a mule to carry their bike over section that are impossible to ride.

Itineraries

Day 1: Marrakech – Takerkoust – Ouirgane

Transfer from Marrakech to Takerkoust Reservoir and start biking to Ourigane on mixed paved and unpaved roads through a lot of Berber villages. Spend the night in a guest house.

Day 2: Ouirgane – Azaden Valley – Tizian Village

Mountain bike from Ouirgane up through the beautiful Azzadine valley on singetrack to a dirt road we will take to the village of Tizien. One section of this climb is a little difficult. Then we will take a dirt road up over the Tiziousem village where we will spend the night in a guest house.

Day 3: Id Issa Village – Tizi Imlil

We will set out towards Imlil village by way of mixed dirt road and paved road. We will spend the night in a guest house in the shadow of the highest mountain in North Africa, Jbel Toubkal.

Day 4: Imlil – Tachedirt – Tansghart - Marrakech

From Imlil we will cross into the steep Iminane Valley above green terraced fields on a paved road and then at the highest village in the valley, Tachedirt, we will descend by way of dirt road to the village of Tansghart than drive back to Marrakech.
